PPG announced the completion of a COLORFUL COMMUNITIES project in Sumaré, Sao Paulo, Brazil, that helped to revitalize the Municipal School of Early Childhood Education (Escola Municipal de Educação Infantil, or EMEI) Alfredo Castro Donaire. The Colorful Communities program provides PPG volunteers and products along with financial contributions to bring color and vitality to communities where the company operates around the world.

The project brought together about 50 volunteers, including employees of the nearby PPG coatings plant, to the school, which is attended by 437 students between ages 4 and 8 who are residents of the Matão neighborhood in Sumaré. The volunteers dedicated a day to using about 500 liters of donated RENNER® paints to refresh interior spaces including classrooms, hallways, the entryway, the sports court and the cafeteria.

This was the second Colorful Communities project completed by PPG in Brazil in two months. In July, employees from the company’s Gravataí architectural coatings facility helped decorate the new Children’s Cancer Institute (ICI) site in Porto Alegre.

“PPG is again reinforcing its commitment to communities located near our sites with this project,” said Marcio Grossmann, PPG business director, Latin America South, and a member of the volunteer group for both projects. “The colors of the Colorful Communities program are intended to transform both living spaces and lives. For children, teachers and staff who spend big parts of their days at school, a warm and colorful environment helps to encourage their creativity and learning.”
